10/17 - Southwestern defeated Falconer 24-7: The SW Spartans defeated the Falconer Tigers 24-7 Saturday night at Bill Race Field. The Spartans got on the board first, Curtis Carlson's 65 yard run, set up a Ben Burk 1 yard plunge and the Spartans led 6-0. Carlson found paydirt in the second quarter from 6 yards out to put the Spartans up 12-0 at the half. The Spartans continued their surge in the second half as Jarret Yuchnitz scored from 7 yards out to put SW ahead 18-0, Michael Sandbloom's 28 yard run up the middle was the key play on the drive. The Tigers got on the board in the 4th quarter when Ryan Dustin scored on a nifty 8 yard run, he also added the extra point and the score was 18-7. On the next possesion Ben Burk scored his second TD of the game running around the end from 8 yards out and putting the Spartans up 24-7. Carlson led all rushers with 108 yards, Yuchnitz ran for 95 yards, Burk 31 yards, Sandbloom 28 and Jared Drocy ran for 24 hard fought yards. The Tigers were led by Ricky Grffith's 83 yards and Ryan Dustin added 55. On defense the Spartans were led by Brian Westerdahl, Dale Linkous, Joey Lindberg, Dylan Lundmark and Jake Chamberlin. The Tigers defense was led by the hard sure tackling of Luke Munella and Bryan Dipetro. With the win the Spartans will square off against the Cassadaga Cougars this Saturday in the final week of the JAMFL season. 10/10 - Southside defeated Southwestern 28-0: 10/3 - Westside defeated Southwestern 14-0: For the second consecutive week the Westside defense was "stingy" as they delivered another shutout beating Southwestern 14-0. Tyler Germonto and Graham Davis anchored the Defense with 5 Tackles and multiple assists, Hunter Peterson contributed with an Interception. For the Offense Hunter Peterson rushed for 86 yards and was on the receiving end of a 76 yard touchdown pass from Graham Davis. The additional score was added when Graham Davis scampered for a 58 yd touchdown. For Southwestern Jake Chamberlain anchored the Defense and Jarrett Yuchnitz had 64 yards rushing. 9/26 - Northside defeated Southwestern 14-6: Northside Warriors defeated Southwestern Spartans 14-6. It was a hard fought game for the Warriors. Zacc Kinsey had 121 yards rushing and a TD.Ex Point was made by Ben Larson. Larson finished the scoring on a 1 yard run.Ex. Point was good by Kinsey. Defensive for the Warriors was Larson with 16 tackles, Zach Panebianco with 10,Carlson, Williams and Johnson with 6 a Piece. Southwestern Curtis Calson had a 60 yard touch down run. Jarett Yuchnitz had 60 yrd rushing. Defensive for the Spartans was Jacob Chamberlain with 8 tackles. Northside next game is in Fredonia at 6:00pm. 9/19 - Southwestern defeated Cassadaga 20-6: The Southwestern Spartans defeated the Cassadaga Valley Cougars 20-6 Saturday afternoon at Cassadaga High School. The Cougars got on the board first, on the second play of the game, Shane Parsons ran untouched around the right end for 61 yards and a touchdown giving the Cougars a 6-0 lead. The Spartans offense got going with strong running from backs Jarrett Yuchnitz and Nick Cooper. Curtis Carlson capped off their second drive with a tuff 8 yard run and Quarterback Ben Burk threw to Jackson Rybicki for the 2 point conversion making the score 8-6. The Spartans got the ball to start the second half and Quarterback Jared Drocy put together a nice balanced drive with great efforts again from running backs Yuchnitz and Cooper, Jackson Rybicki added 2 nice runs as well. Once again Carlson gave the Spartans a 14-6 lead when he broke off tackle for a 46 yard score, his second of the game. Jake Chamberlin led the way, for the Spartans defense with 12 tackles and was helped out by Michael Brooks, Dylan Lundmark, Joey Lindburg, Brian Westerdahl and Brendan Kennedy. The Spartans offense sealed the game with their final touchdown midway through the 4th quarter. Curtis Carlson’s 3rd touchdown run of the game, an 18 yard run off tackle, closed out the scoring. Carlson led the offense with 84 yards, Jarrett Yuchnitz had 67 yards, Nick Cooper 40 yards and Jackson Rybicki 24 yards. QB Ben Burk was 3 of 5 passing for 40 yards an extra point conversion and 1 interception. Jake Brecht chipped in with a nice catch and run play of 33 yards. With the win, the Varsity Spartans, improve to 2-2 on the season. The Spartans head back home Saturday night to face the Northside Warriors at 7:30pm. 9/12 - Fredonia defeated Southwestern 22-6: Fredonia outpaced Southwestern with a balanced running attack of Dakota Gardner, Cameron Voss, and Mike Pucci with all three scoring touchdowns in the contest. Eric Swoyer and Voss added extra points and Daniel Barnes had an interception for the Billies defense. Southwestern's blank blank scored the lone touchdown and Jacob Chamberlain played excellent line play for the Trojans. 9/5 - Dunkirk defeated Southwestern 2-0: In what can be called the best defensive performance of this young season by both teams, this meeting by the Dunkirk Marauders and Southwestern Spartans was settled by a safety by Dunkirks Jon McCarthy. He also led the marauder defense with 9 tackles and 2 sacks. Geo DeJesus also chipped in with 9 tackles. Gage Austim had 6 tackles and a interception. Southwestern was led by Jacob Chamberlains 12 tackle performance as he help the Spartans shut down the marauder offense. Jack Carlson led the Southwestern offense with 41 yards rushing. 8/28 - Southwestern defeated Falconer 27-0: The defense stepped on the field first for the Southwestern Spartans and set the tone for the rest of the game. The Spartans jumped out to a 6-0 lead on the running of Curtis Carlson. Carlson's long run set up a 4 yard touchdown run by fullback Nick Swanson. The teams battled back and fourth through out the first half with the score staying 6-0. The Spartans came out flying in the second half scoring 21 points behind the touchdown runs of Nick Cooper, Curtis Carlson and Brian Westerdahl. The Spartans defense was led by Brian Westerdahl who was all over the field, Jake Chamberlin and Mel Eggleston. The Tigers played a very good game on both sides of the ball as well. The game was a lot closer than the final score showed. The Tigers travel to Fredonia and the Spartans will head to Dunkirk next Saturday night in JAMFL action.
