- Northside JVs defeated Southwestern JVs 20-0: The
Northside Warriors battled to a 20-0 win over the Southwestern
Spartans in JV action. The Warrior defense kept the team in the
game led by Dylan Pratt with 12 tackles, Austin Prunty with 11, and
Dakota Lewis with 11. Noah Larson added an interception and Matt
Woodard a key fumble recovery. Offensively the Warriors were led by
James Rohas' 129 yards and 2 TD's, and Jovian Maisonet's 77 yards
and 1 TD. For the Spartans, Nate Priester and Brad Southwick
dominated defensively. Jake Ferari was their top rusher.

- Southwestern JVs defeated Southside JVs 20-6:

- Southwestern JVs defeated Westside JVs 29-0:
The
Southwestern Junior Spartans defeated the West Side Panthers 29-0
Saturday at SW Central School. The Spartans offense was led by the
running of Jake Ferrari who had 176 yards on the ground and the hard
nose blocking of Cole Snyder and Brandon West. Graham Josephson ran
for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns, Alex Milliner had 40 hard yards and
Brian Burns added a touchdown. Brad Southwick and Nate Priester led
a tanacious Spartan defense, Southwick ran an interception back 27
yards for another Spartans touchdown. Donny Dean and Vinny Certo
also played well and had 10 and 8 tackles respectively. The Panthers
fought hard all day long and played very well on both sides of the
ball despite the final score, they never quit and showed a lot of
heart throughout the game.
9/26
- Northside JVs defeated Southwestern JVs 18-6:
The Northside Warriors JV
team, fighting to stay alive in the playoff race, narrowly escaped
with a victory over a tough Southwestern Spartans team. A
complete team effort was responsible for the victory. James
"Cookie" Rojas led the offense with 124 yards rushing and 1
touchdown. Jovian "Jumpy" Masionet tacked on another 83 yards
for the offense. Ryan Nordwall had a 30 yard TD. On
defense, Dylan "Choppy" Pratt led the way with 9 tackles, Noah
Larson tacked on 6 and Chris Whitford had 5. For Southwestern,
Jake Ferrari had 128 yards rushing and a touchdown. Graham
Josephson had 80 yards rushing and Brian Burns
also contributed with 50 yards rushing. On defense for the
Spartans, Nate Priester had 15 tackles, Glenn Janowski and Zander
Dorman each added 6.
9/19
- Southwestern JVs defeated Cassadaga JVs
46-6:
The Southwestern Spartans Junior Varsity
team got the day started on a positive note
Saturday, defeating the Cassadaga Cougar
JV’s 46-6. Drew Shilling anchored an
impressive offensive line that opened up big
holes throughout the contest. Alex Milliner
rushed for 84 hard fought yards and 1
touchdown. Graham Josephson helped the
offense with 80 yards rushing and 2
touchdowns. Jacob Thorp and Ryan Parker
filled in at running back and did a
fantastic job running the football. Thorp
ran for an impressive 85 yards and 2
touchdowns and Parker helped the Spartan
offense with 30 tuff yards on the ground.
Also playing a solid game was offensive end
Mason Kubinski who hauled in 3 catches on
the day while providing solid blocking all
afternoon. The Spartan Defense was led by
cornerback Mitchell Hartweg. Hartweg, who
had 6 tackles, also scooped up a fumble and
raced 27 yards untouched into the end zone
for a touchdown. Maddie Sullivan had 4
tackles on the day and intercepted a Cougar
pass and ran it back 35 yards for another
defensive touchdown. Other players helping
the defense were Shane Hetrick who had 4
tackles and 1 sack and Collin Melquist
chipped in with 4 tackles and 1 sack. Donny
Dean played an outstanding game as well with
8 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 fumble recovery.
With the win the Spartans JV team improved
to 3-0-1 on the season. The Spartans will be
at home this Saturday as they face the
Northside Warriors at 6:00pm at Charles A.
Lawson Field.
9/12 - Fredonia JVs tied Southwestern JVs
6-6:
In a hard hitting battle,the Fredonia J.V.
tied Southwestern J.V. 6-6. The Hillbillies
scored on a 65 yard halfback pass from Azeem
Zaidi to Noah Fleckenstein The Fredonia
defense was anchored by Dawson Rafan, while
Nolan Mages and Jacob Green each recovered a
fumble. The game went down to the wire when
Jalen Faso made a tackle preventing a last
second score.
9/5 - Southwestern JVs defeated Dunkirk
JVs 20-14:
The SW Spartans JV team moved to 2-0 on
the young season defeating the Dunkirk
Marauders in a hard faught battle 20-14 this
past Saturday night. The Spartans offense
was led by the hard running and 3 touchdown
performance of Graham Josephson. Other backs
providing a a spark for the Spartans offense
were Brandon West, Brian Burns and Jake
Ferrari while Mason Kubinski chipped in with
real nice 2 point conversion catch to finish
the scoring for the victors. An often
overlooked player of the game was center
Jacob Thorp, who made great strides in
practice this week, and the Spartans offense
didn't fumble a single snap. Leading the way
for the Spartans defense were safety Zander
Dorman, who had 4 tackles three of which
were TD saving tackles, LB Nate Priester had
7 tackles, 3 for losses, DT John Earing and
LB Andrew Calabrese had 5 tackles each, 2
each for losses. For the Marauders Jaquan
Allen led the way on offense rushing for 72
yards and a touchdown and he also caught an
80 yard pass for a TD as well. The Dunkirk
defense was led by Teagan Raynor's 9
tackles, 5 for losses, Austin Polowy's 8
tackles, 4 for losses and Andrew Vetter
chipped in with 4 tackles and recovered a
fumble. Overall the game was very well
played by both teams, an effort both coaches
were very proud of.
8/28 - Southwestern JV's defeated
Falconer 13-6: The Junior Varsity
team got things going Friday night for The
Southwestern Spartans defeating the Falconer
Tigers 13-6 at Cahrles A. Lawson Field. The
Spartan JV's played well on both sides of
the ball. The offense was led Graham
Josephson who ran for 2 touchdowns and
Brandon West who pounded out tough runs all
night long. The defense was led by the sure
tackling of Nate Priester along with
teammtes Maddie Sullivan, John Earing and
Zack Micelli. The Tigers Played a very hard
fought game both offensively and defensively
as well. The Spartans will be on the road
next weekend as they face the Dunkirk
Marauders at 6:00 Saturday night. |
