scored twice on runs of 11
and 18 yards. Kyle
Liuzzo scored on a QB sneek
then threw for a two point
conversion to Jorge Torres
to round out the scoring.
"Gus" Calwell had 80 yards
rushing as did Matt Nazarro.
The Defense was led by Logan
Bellardo with 10 tackles and
Keven Mosley with 9.
Southside will take on
Northside Saturday the 24th
at Strider Field for the
J.A.M.F.L. Championship.
10/24 - Southside
defeated Northside 12-8:
The
Southside Blue Devils capped off an undefeated season by downing the
Northside Warriors in the Jamestown Area Midget Football League
Championship 12-8 at Strider Field. The South took a 6-0 lead in the
2nd quarter on a Kevin Mosely 3 yard touchdown run. The North
answered back on a 1 yard td run by Noah Johnson. Johnson's run was
set up by a long pass reception from Zacc Kinsey . Kinsey also
caught the 2 point conversion to put the Warriors up 8-6 at the
half. In the 2nd half, Mosely's interception of a Northside drive
set up the Bluedevils for a drive of their own. Quarterback Kyle
Liuzzo led the Devils down the field to the 1 yard line. He then
called his own number for a quarterback sneak to put the Devils
ahead for good 12-8. Matt Nazzarro intercepted a Northside pass in
their final drive to seal the game. Nazzarro had 122 yards rushing
to lead the South running attack. Along with his INT, Mosely led
the Bluedevils defense with 9 tackles. Liuzzo had 8 stops and
cornerbacks Corey and Devan Jackson each had 5 tackles apiece. Zack
Panebianco led the Northside defense with 13 tackles. Ben Larson and
Tyler Coulter each had 10 for the Warriors. Kinsey was the leading
rusher for the North, weaving his way for 93 yards.

- Southside defeated Southwestern 28-0:

- Southside defeated Falconer 33-0:
The
Southside Blue Devils continue to roll as they defeated the Falconer
Tigers 33-0 last Saturday night at Bill Race Field in Falconer. Matt
Nazzaro got Southside out front early scoring from 19 yards out.
Devan Jackson pounded in from the 1 yard line to make the score 12-0
after the 1st quarter. Kevin Mosely accounted for the scoring in the
2nd quarter by rumbling in from 17 yards and then caught the 2 point
conversion pass from Kyle Liuzzo. With the Blue Devils leading 20-0
at the half, the Southside second team offense scored a pair of
touchdowns to finish the scoring. Dominic Santiago hit paydirt from
4 yards out for his 1st career touchdown. Also scoring for the 1st
time was Spencer Muscarella, who scampered in from 1 yard out for
both the touchdown , but the extra point as well. Nazzaro finished
with 129 yards on just 9 carries. Mosely was the leading tackler
with 6 solo stops. Muscarella and Logan Bellardo each had a fumble
recovery. Tank Sherman added a sack for the BlueDevil attack. Tyler
Himes was the leading rusher for Falconer. The Tiger defense was led
by Himes with 11 tackles. Ricky Griffin, Brandon Curtis and Ryan
Dustin each had 8 tackles for Falconer
9/26 - Southside defeated Dunkirk 21-0:
Matt Nazzarro gained 117 yards on 8 carries to lead the Southside
Blue Devils over the Dunkirk Marauders 21-0. The offensive line
anchored by Damien Jackson, Logan Bellardo, Dominic Santiago, Gus
Caldwell and Karsen Terry helped pave the way for the Southside
running attack. Nazzarro opened the scoring by scampering 65 yards
for a touchdown. Kevin Mosely caught the 2 point conversion pass
from quarterback Kyle Liuzzo. Mosely also added a touchdown run of
his own, barreling in from 8 yards. Liuzzo called his own number and
ran in the extra point. Devan Jackson finished the scoring by
weaving his way 14 yards into the endzone to complete the scoring.
For Blue Devil defense,linebackers Liuzzo and Mosely led the way
with 11 and 6 tackles respectively. Another leader on defense was
left tackle, Tank Sherman who pitched in with 9 stops of his own.
Nazzarro had 4 tackles including a sack and a fumble recovery. Gage
Austin was the leader on both sides of the ball for Dunkirk. Tim
Cerrie was also a defensive standout for the Marauders.

- Southside defeated Fredonia 22-6:
In the
battle of the unbeatens, the Southside Blue Devils knocked off the
Fredonia Hillbillies 22-6 at "the pit" last Saturday night in
Fredonia. Matt Nazzaro broke off a 57 yard touchdown run in the 1st
quarter, as Southside held a 6-0 lead at the half. Kevin Mosely put
the Devils up 14-0 by running in a touchdown from 10 yards out and
catching the 2 point conversion pass. Fredonia answered back on the
legs of Dakota Gardner. Gardner, the leading rusher for Fredonia,
punched it in from 5 yards to make the score 14-6. In the 4th
quarter, Southside put the game out of reach as Devan Jackson burst
up the middle and ran untouched 47 yards into the endzone. Jorge
Torres caught the 2 point conversion from Kyle Liuzzo to complete
the scoring. Torres also had a 25 yard reception. The Blue Devil
defense was led by Mosely, who had 13 tackles and an interception.
Liuzzo had 8 tackles, while Nazzaro and Matt Sherman each had 6
stops apiece. Jackson also had an interception, while brother,
Damien Jackson recovered a fumble. Hillbillie defensive standouts
were Cameron Voss, Gardner, Nick Formanowich,and Jameson Bunge.
9/12
- Southside defeated Cassadaga 28-6:
The Southside Blue Devils jumped out to an
early 22-0 lead and went on to defeat the
Cassadaga Cougars 28-6 at Strider Field.
Matt Nazzaro took the opening handoff for 65
yards to paydirt to get things rolling.
After a Logan Bellardo incerception, Nazzaro
found the endzone again from 27 yards out.
Kevin Mosely also scored from 2 yards out
and caught two 2-point conversion passes
from Kyle Liuzzo, all in the 1st quarter.
Corey Jackson tacked on another 1 yard
touchdown run and gained 94 yards on the
ground for the Blue Devils. On defense,
Mosely was the leader with 9 tackles and
Devan Jackson made 6 stops. Casper Whitacre
had 3 fumble recoveries, scooping up forced
fumbles made by defensive tackle, Tank
Sherman. For the Cougars, Shane Parsons
ripped a 70 yard run for the lone Cassadaga
score. Chris Ellis and Matt Heath were
standouts for the cougar defense, making 7
tackles apiece.
9/5 - Southside defeated Northside 19-7:
Jorge Torres reeled in a 21 yard tipped
pass for a touchdown thrown from running
back Matt Nazzaro to help the Southside
Bluedevils defeat the Northside warriors
19-7. Trailing 7-6 midway through the 3rd
quarter, Bluedevil quarterback Kyle Liuzzo
pitched the ball to tailback Nazzaro, who
then set up and tossed a spiral off the
outstretched hands of a Warrior cornerback
and into the hands of Torres. Nazzaro gained
176 yards on 20 carries and scored on runs
of 14 and 31 yards. Devan Jackson, a
bruising fullback, paved the way for the
southside running attack. Kevin Mosely added
an extra point conversion. On defense,
Mosely had 8 tackles and Damian Jackson had
4 tackles with a sack. Devonte Strudwick
chipped in with an interception. For
Northside, Zacc Kinsey rushed for 52 yards
and scored from 1 yard out. On Defense, Zack
Panabianco and Adam Gullo each had 7
tackles. Kinsey and Christian Edborg each
chipped in with 6 stops.
8/29 - Southside defeated Westside 22-0:
The Southside Blue Devils defeated the
Westside Panthers 22-0 last Saturday
afternoon at Strider Field. The Blue Devil
offense was paced by running back Matt
Nazzaro. Nazzaro gained 177 yards on 16
carries with a 69 yard touchdown run. Kevin
Mosely and Logan Bellardo each hit paydirt
from 5 and 2 yards respectively. Mosely and
Austin Johnson each caught 2 point
conversion passes from quarterback Kyle
Liuzzo to complete the scoring, all in the
1st half. The swarming Blue Devil defense
held the Panther offense to just one 1st
down. Mosely led the attack with 7 solo
tackles. Casper Whitacre chipped in with 6
tackles and a sack and Damian Jackson had 5
stops. Nazzaro also had 2 interceptions. The
Westside defense tightened up in the 2nd
half. Hunter Peterson led with 7 tackles,
while Ben Osman forced and recovered a
fumble. |
