  Southwestern Trojans Defeat Croton-Harmon 35-7
Southwestern Trojans Defeat Notre Dame 20-6
  Southwestern Trojans Defeat LeRoy 38 - 35

11/29 - Southwestern defeated Croton-Harmon 35-7:  The Southwestern Trojans have completed their journey and it ended Saturday afternoon as the Trojans defeated the Tigers of Croton-Harmon 35-7 in the Carrier Dome.  The Trojans controlled all 3 phases of the game.  The MVP of the game was Zack Sopak who threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for another touchdown.   The Trojan offense was also led by John Mistretta who ran for 92 yards and a touchdown, while Levi Bursch and Andy Lata each had a touchdown reception.  The defense was totally dominating while holding the Croton-Harmon Tigers to under 200 total yards.

Congratulations to the 2008 SW Trojans who have won the first ever state championship for the football Trojans.

Everyone please thank Mr. Scott Cooper for his support and most of all HIS PATIENCE!!!

11/22 - Southwestern defeated Notre Dame 20-6:  The Southwestern Trojans are headed to Syracuse to play in the Carrier Dome for the New York State Class C Championship against Croton-Harmon.  The Trojans advanced by defeating Notre Dame of Elmira with a dominating stubborn defense, led by Jeff DeVlieger (11 tackles) and the offense led by QB Zack Sopak who rushed for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns.  This is the first time in school history that the Trojans have made it this far in the playoffs.

It is common talk with football players and coaches in New York state about practicing on Thanksgiving Day, well the Trojans will be doing just that.  Keep the turkeys in the oven for a little bit longer and the cranberry sauce in the fridge.  The Trojans will be getting ready for some football.

And for Coach Cooper and the SW Trojans Basketball team?  ONE MORE WEEK!

11/15 - Southwestern defeated LeRoy 38-35:  The SW Trojans went to UB Stadium Saturday morning to face the top ranked team in the state, LeRoy.  The Trojans came out on top 38-35.  LeRoy controlled the game, driving up and down the field.  The only problem was, LeRoy did not control the ball and turned it over to the Trojans on several times within the "Red Zone".  LeRoy again turned the ball over late in the game while the team was driving down the field.

Zack Sopak was calm, cool and collected as he went a perfect 10 for 10 on the day throwing for 2 touchdowns and over 200 yards.  Eric Mazgaj led the defense causing the final turnover for LeRoy as he sacked the quarterback with under a minute left in the game.

The Trojans now will face Notre Dame of Elmira next Saturday at 12 noon.

11/8 - Southwestern defeated Silver Creek 21-0:  The Southwestern Trojans dominated the Silver Creek Black Knights 21-0 Saturday afternoon at Ralph Wilson Stadium to take the Section VI Class C Title.  But the Trojans have only just begun their journey as they head to the University of Buffalo next Saturday where the will face LeRoy, the Section V Champions.  Southwestern was led by Ryan Buzzetto and Jeff DeVlieger who combined for 26 tackles on the day.   The Trojan defense held the Black Knights to 106 yards on the day and only 6 first downs.    The Southwestern offense was led by Zack Sopak who passed for 70 yards and scored a touchdown on a 4 yard run.  Levi Bursch also contributed offensively with 67 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

10/31 - Southwestern defeated Allegany 28-13:  The Southwestern Trojans faced the Allegany-Limestone Gators for the second time this season in Class C Playoff action.  The same result came as Southwestern defeated the Gators 28-13 at Charles E. Lawson field.  The Trojans are now headed to Ralph Wilson Stadium where they will face the Silver Creek Black Knights at 3pm on Saturday.

10/24 - Southwestern defeated JFK 43-8:  The Southwestern Trojans continue their dominating win streak in the first week of the Class C Playoffs as they routed JFK at Southwestern 43-8 Friday night.  The Trojans put 28 points in the book in the second quarter alone.  Zack Sopak led the Trojans through the air, completing 7 of 11 passes for 101 yards.  Levi Bursch led on the ground scoring 2 touchdowns and running for 164 yards.  Next week Southwestern will host Allegany at Charles A. Lawson field.  If Southwestern wins, they would advance to the semifinal game at Ralph Wilson Stadium in 2 weeks.

10/17 - Southwestern defeated Falconer 42-6:  This makes 12 in a row that the Southwestern Trojans have defeated the Falconer Golden Falcons in an "age old" rivalry.  Streaks go in cycles.  Falconer will look to stop the streak next year as the Trojans won this year 42-6.  Southwestern heads into Class C.  But this year it was all Southwestern as they were led by Levi Bursch who scored four touchdowns, two rushing and two receiving.  John Mistretta and Eric Mazgaj also added touchdowns for the Trojans.  Matt Adams led the Golden Falcons with 147 yards on the ground.  Corey Carlson led the Trojan defense with 9 tackles.  Chris Jock contributed with 8 tackles.

10/10 - Southwestern defeated Salamanca 30-14:  The Southwestern Trojans are the 2008 Class C South League Champions!  Southwestern continued their winning ways by beating the visiting Salamanca team at Charles A. Lawson field Friday night.  Zack Sopak led the Trojan offense throwing 3 touchdown passes in the game.  Two of those catches were caught by Andy Lata and one by Levi Bursch.  John Mistretta led the rushing attack by scoring a touchdown and gaining 61 yards.  Ryan Buzzeto led the defense recording 9 tackles and an interception.  Tanner Delahoy and Jasen Carlson contributed with 8 and 6 tackles respectively.

10/3 - Southwestern defeated Allegany 28 - 0:  The Southwestern Trojan defense led the way as the team improves to 5-0 on the year in Class C South.  The Allegany Gators were held to 89 total yards on offense.  John Mistretta led the Trojans on offense with 109 yards rushing that included a 5 yard touchdown run.  Zack Sopak led the air attack for Southwestern while throwing for 116 yards and completing 66% of his passes that included 1 touchdown pass to Bursch (21 yards).  Sopak also had two rushing touchdowns for the Trojans.  The Trojans put their undefeated season on the line next week as they host Salamanca.

9/26 - Southwestern defeated Westfield 44-2:  The Southwestern Trojans remained undefeated Friday night by defeating the visiting Westfield Wolverines 44-2.  The Trojans were led by a heavy dose of running divided between John Mistretta, Zack Sopak, Levi Bursch and Eric Mazgaj.  Each of the runners contributed with scoring a TD.  Southwestern SHUT DOWN Westfield by holding them to -29 yards rushing on the night.  Eric Mazgaj led the Trojan defense.

9/19 - Southwestern defeated Cassadaga 34-7:  The Southwestern Trojans are rolling through the competition in Class C football.  The Trojans are not only beating their opponents, but they are dominating them with an average margin of victory exceeding the 28pt mark.  The Trojans are ranked #3 in WNY.

Levi Bursch led the Trojans this week with 80 yards on the ground and 2 TDs.  John Mistretta and Eric Mazgaj also added one TD each for Southwestern while Zack Sopak connected with Will Sleggs to cap off the scoring for the Trojans.  Southwestern takes on Westfield at home next Friday.

9/12 - Southwestern defeated Silver Creek 33-13:  Southwestern improved their 2008 season by breezing past the Silver Creek Knights in the Knights back yard.  Burch led the Trojans by scoring 3 touchdowns while Fleggs and Sopak each contributed with 1 TD.
