10/30 - Niagara Wheatfield
defeated Jamestown 18-13:
Coach Tom Langworthy
and the JHS Red Raider
football team took the first
step to turning around the
JHS Red Raider football
program. And that was
getting through the season
with progress. And
they definately made
progress! The Red
Raiders lost to
Niagara-Wheatfield Thursday
night at Strider Field, but
the importantance of what
had been completed this your
did not get overlooked.
Tom Langworthy and his group
of coaches have started to
get back the Red Raider
Football tradition of years
past back.
The Red Raiders were led by
Dylan Monroe who ran 18
times for 139 yards and a
touchdown. Junior QB
Bret Heath started the game
as team captain Ben Cecchini
sat out after leaving the
game early last week for
shortness of breath.
Heath completed 6 of 15
passes for 59 yards.
The Red Raiders led at
halftime 7-6 but that did
not last long as Niagara
Wheatfield scored on their
opening possesion of the
second half. Jamestown
then drove down the field in
the fourth quarter but the
offense could not come
through from the 1 yard
line. The defense then
took over and Brian
Dwailebee recovered a fumble
and scored a touchdown
giving Jamestown a 13-12
lead. Niagara
Wheatfield then sealed the
victory with a drive down
the field in the fourth
quarter.
10/25 - Kenmore West
defeated Jamestown 27-0:
The Red Raiders were shut
out for the 2nd week in a
row. Last week the
game meant absolutely
nothing in terms of the Red
Raiders playoff positioning.
This week was round one of
the Class AA Playoffs and
the Red Raiders are out, but
will still play one more
game against Niagara
Wheatfield next Saturday.
Turnovers probably cost
Jamestown the game as they
turned it over 5 times on
the day, three on the ground
and twice in the air.
Kenmore West was definately
a strong team as they held
Dylan Monroe to 27 yards on
the day. Brian
Dwaileebe led the defense
with 9 tackles while Eric
Tyra added 7.
10/3 - Jamestown defeated
West Seneca West 28-13:
Jamestown hosted it's
first night game in over 30
years at Strider Field
Friday night as West Seneca
West traveled to Jamestown
for Jamestown's Homecoming
game. The Red Raiders
did not disappoint the near
capacity home crowd by
controlling the game both
offensively and defensively.
Dyland Monroe lead the solid
running game of the Red
Raiders by rushing for 241
yards of Jamestown's total
304 yards. Monroe also
had 3 touchdown runs on the
night. The Red Raider
defense held the West Seneca
West offense to 103 total
yards on the night and only
6 first downs.
9/26 - Jamestown defeated
Frontier 28-27:
Jamestown traveled to
Frontier Friday night to
take on the 2-1 Frontier
Falcons. Jamestown got
off to a 28-7 start and held
on to win by a point, thanks
to a missed extra point by
Frontier. Dillon
Monroe led the Jamestown
offense with 156 yards on
the ground and 2 touchdowns.
Chris Prinzi added some
excitement to the Jamestown
special teams with an 83
yard kickoff return for a
touchdown. Brian
Dwaileebe and Jon Barlow led
the Jamestown defense with 7
tackles each.
Next Friday night, the Red
Raiders host West Seneca
West at Strider Field under
the lights! Yes, you
heard it correctly, under
the lights! Jamestown
will be playing it's first
home game at night and under
the lights in almost 30
years.
9/19
- Lancaster defeated Jamestown 44-0: The Jamestown Red
Raiders offense has been shut out two weeks in a row. This
week was at the hands of the Lancaster. Jamestown was held to
under 200 yards of total offense while their defense surrendered 298
yards. The Red Raiders turned the ball over 3 times which
definately contributed to the final outcome of the game. The
Jamestown Red Raiders travel to Frontier next Friday night.
9/13 -
Orchard Park Defeated Jamestown 25-0: On a humid and rainy
day at Strider Field, the Orchard Park Quakers came into town and
reminded Jamestown what the Class A football is all about in Section
VI football. Orchard Park came in as the top ranked team in
the large schools division.
The
Jamestown defense was solid most of the afternoon holding Orchard
Park to only 12 points in the first half. Jamestown was never
able to get any sustained drives going against the tough Quaker
defense. Jamestown travels to Lancaster next week.
