2010 High School Basketball Playoffs

Class D State Championship

3/20 - Maple Grove defeated Coleman Catholic 43-38:  Chris Secky led the Maple Grove Red Dragons to the 2010 New York State Championship for the second time in the last three years.  Maple Grove defeated Coleman Catholic 43-38.  Secky poured in 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Matt Fox, Gage Milliman and Skylar Liddell each added 4 points.  Secky was named the tournament MVP.

3/19 - Maple Grove defeated New York Mills 56-50:  The Maple Grove Red Dragons are headed back to the Class D New York State Championship game after a 56-50 victory over New York Mills.  They will now take on Coleman Catholic, the number 2 ranked school in the state.  Tip off is set for 5:30pm today at Glenns Falls, NY.  Chris Secky led in the victory over Mills with 22 points and 14 rebounds.  Alex Grace added 12 points for the Red Dragons.

Class D Playoffs

3/13 - Maple Grove defeated Houghton Academy 52-36:  The Red Dragons are headed to Glenns Falls with a spot in the Class D Final Four.  They will now take on New York Mills in the semi finals.  Chris Secky led the team in scoring with 24 points.  21 of those points came in the second half as Secky missed a lot of time in the first half because he picked up two quick fouls.  Matt Fox, Wil Nelson and Skylar Liddell each added six for the Red Dragons.

Class AA Playoffs

3/13 - East defeated Jamestown 50-49:  The Jamestown Red Raiders lost a "heart-breaker" to East this past Saturday to bring their season to a close.  They made it in the New York State playoffs as far as any team in school history.  Fletcher Larson led the way for JHS with 16 points and 9 rebounds.  A huge congratulations goes out to Coach Drake and the rest of the Jamestown Red Raiders.  PICS

Class AA Playoffs

3/6 - Jamestown defeated Clarence 73-52:  The Jamestown Red Raiders are headed back to Buffalo State College next Saturday to take on the Section 5 Class AA Champion at 8:15pm to determine the Far West Regional Champion.  Jamestown knocked off Clarence 73-52 with dominant performances by Darrin Butts and of course, Carlos "The General" Rivera who combined for 49 points to help lead the Red Raiders to the Class AA Section VI Championship.  Butts is such a talented player both psysically and psychologically.  He gets into his opponents head better than anyone I have seen in a while.  The General, just did the usual, run the floor, hit the soft outside shots and get it done.  Jaysean Paige is just an athlete, and only a sophomore.  And then there is Fletcher Larson, the guy alters his opponents shots and has a soft touch.  Congratulations to Coach Ben Drake and the rest of the Red Raiders & Staff!   PICS

3/2 - Jamestown defeated North Tonawanda 57-34:  JHS advances to the Section 6 Championship game against Clarence Saturday night at Buffalo State College after handling North Tonawanda 57-34.  Carlos Rivera led the team in scoring with 26 points.  Rivera got off to a slow start missing his first 5 three point attempts.  The rest of the Red Raiders kept North Tonawanda in check with their physical and aggressive defense.  To go with Rivera's 26 points, Darrin Butts added 12.  Jamestown defeated Clarence both times they faced them this year.  Most recently they beat them by 26 points three weeks ago.

2/26 - Jamestown defeated Frontier 65-37:  It looks as if the Jamestown Red Raiders are focused and ready to roll in the 2010 High School Basketball Playoffs as they opened up with a 65-37 victory over Frontier Friday night.  They will now take on North Tonawanda this Thursday night at 7:45 pm at Buffalo State College.  Carlos Rivera led the scoring with 18 points while Jaysean Paige added 13.  Paige, Fletcher Larson and Darrin Butts all dunked for the Red Raiders too!!

Class D Playoffs

3/2 - Maple Grove defeated Sherman 43-32:  Sherman put up a fight, even led by two at the half, but Maple Grove came back to win 43-32.  Sherman did a great job at keeping Chris Secky in check, but the rest of the Red Dragons stepped up to the task.  Secky still led the scoring, chalking up 20 while Liddell added 9.   The Red Dragons will now move on to the Far West Regionals next Saturday at 12:00pm as they take on the Section 5 champion.     PICS

3/2 - Maple Grove defeated Ellicottville 62-34:  It wasn't much of a challenge for Maple Grove this past Tuesday as they breezed past Ellicottville 62-34.  Maple Grove will now face Sherman for the Class D Section 6 Championship Friday night at JCC.  Chris Secky led the scoring attack for the Red Dragons scoring 15 points while Meekins, Liddell and McElrath scored 8 each.

Regular Season Friday Night Hoops

2/17 - Jamestown defeated Clarence 80-54:  After a heart-breaking loss to Orchard Park last Friday night, the Red Raiders responded with a convincing victory over Clarence to close out the 2010 regular season.   This could be just what the doctor ordered as they now look forward to the playoffs.  Jamestown secured the number two seed in AA Section VI play.  JHS was led by Darrin "D" Butts with 19 points, but it was the play of Fletcher Larson that sparked Jamestown.  Larson had 17 points that included 2 thunderous dunks.  Carlos "The General" Rivera added 12 points.  Now the Red Raiders will wait to see who they host next Friday night in their first game of the playoffs.
