Friday Baseball

7/11 - In the 2008 SUMMER CLASSIC, In game 1 of the tournament, the Jamestown Yankees put the 10 run rule on Southwestern defeating the Gladiators 12-1 after 4 complete innings.  The Jamestown bats finally came to life as Duel Card led the way with a 3 for 3 outing including a home run.  Jake Brown, Seth MacTavish and Drew Boggs each went 2 for 3 on the night with each hitting a triple.  Drew Simmons also had 3 hits.  Cole Snyder and Casey Williams chipped in for Southwestern with each getting 2 hits.  Jamestown will face Randolph tomorrow at 11:15 and Evans at 1:30.  Southwestern will play Evans at 3:45 and Randolph at 6:00pm.

District Championship Baseball

7/2- -In the Majors Division, Southwestern beat Jamestown 2-1 in the District 7 Tournament at LaGrega Field. For Southwestern, Kyle Radack was 2 for 3 with a double. Jake Sisson was 2 for 3 with an RBI double. Pete Trathen hit a double. Kyle Radack and Jake Sisson combined to pitch a 3 hitter. For Jamestown, Harrison Tyra hit a solo homerun over the left field fence for the only run. Zack Panebianco and Stephen Carlson each had singles for the only other two hits. Ben Larson, Jeffrey Miller, and Zach Panebianco pitched for Jamestown. Southwestern will play Evans at 3:00 Thursday at LaGrega. Jamestown will play Valley at 6:00 Thursday at LaGrega.

Evans scored 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Valley 3 to 2. For Evans, Mascio was 1 for 2 with a solo homerun. Diamond had a pinch hit double. For Valley, Bender had an RBI single. Gugino was 2 for 3 with a double. Joslyn, Mascio, and Evancho were on the mound for Evans. Oaks and Sticek pitched for Valley. Evans will play Southwestern at 3:00 Thursday at LaGrega. Valley plays Jamestown at 6:00 Thursday at LaGrega.

6/25- -In the Minors Division, The SWAS U-10 Tournament Team won their first round game of the District 7 Championship tournament in Gerry with a 10-run rule victory over the Valley North All Stars. The SWAS Gladiators got 3 innings of shut-out pitching from Chase McQueen, with help from his battery mate Jarret Yuchnitz who was defensive player of the game behind the plate. Mike Sandbloom and Ben Burk added two hits each in the winning effort. For North Valley, Trent Mihalko had two hits and Taran Mosher recorded an an unassisted double play.

Saturday Championship Baseball

6/21 - In the Majors Division, The Lakewood Golf Center Marlins won the championship game over the Phillips Karport Mets 12 to 4. Jake Sisson was 3 for 3 with a home run and a triple and 3 RBI's. Kyle McIntyre was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 RBI's. Sisson and McIntyre's home runs were back to back. Derek DeVlieger had a triple.Mike Rensel had two hits, one an RBI double. Kyle Radack, Jake Sisson, Kyle McIntyre, and Ricky Eddy combined for 16 strikeouts and 2 walks. For the Mets, Pete Trathen was 2 for 3 with a double. Tommy Gerace had an RBI double. Pete Trathen, Tyler Bell, and Cory Bryerton were on the mound for the Mets and gave up 13 hits.

6/21 - In the Minors Division, The BWB Yankees pulled off another stunning come-from-behind walk-off win the the bottom half of the last inning to win the SWAS Minors Championship game against a game Orioles team in one of the best Cal Ripken games of the year.  The Yankees plated 5 runs in the bottom half of the 3rd inning, keyed by a base-clearing single by Ryan Hetrick to go up 6-0, but the resilient Orioles battled back for a 7-6 lead in the top of the 5th inning on big hits by Jack Carlson and Brandon Kennedy. Jack Payne got the Yankees in order in their half of the 5th and Chased McQueen, who pitched 3 scoreless innings for the Yankees, got the Orioles out in order in the top of the 6th, leading to the bottom half excitement.  Ryan Hetrick led off the inning with a double, and it appeared he would be stranded on 2nd after two straight strike-outs by Yankee hitters.  But after three straight "great-at-bat" walks to Zach Craker, Mitch Hartweg, and Jack Rybicki, Ben Burk plated the winning runs with a single to left field for the Yankee win.  Chase McQueen got the win in the game and Burk and Hetrick had two hits in the game for the Yankees.  Brian Westerdahl had two hits for the O's.

Wednesday Baseball

6/18 - In the Minors Division, The Carlson Car Care Orioles defeated the Royals 6-1 to advance to the championship game. Leading the Orioles on the mound were Mike Sandbloom and Jack Payne. Brian Westedahl had a triple and a single and Sandbloom added a double and single with Payne contributing two hits. For the Royals Josh Eddy belted out two hits and Eric Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, Garrett Johnson and Clayton Hanson stepped up defensively.

In the Majors Division,  In exciting playoff action the BWB Yankees moved into the SWAS Minor League Championship game with a come-from-behind walk-off win in the bottom of the 6th inning. Trailing 4-2 from the 3rd inning on, the Yankees led off the home half of the 6th with a single by Mitchell Hartweg. After a strike-out, Ben Burk doubled to left field. A walk loaded the bases, and Nick Cooper ripped a single that was almost caught by Red Sox shortstop Nick Swanson. Three runs were plated after an errant throw to home and the Yankees escaped with the win.  For the Yankees, Burk added two singles to go 3 for 3, and Jack Rybicki had an RBI triple. Red Sox pitcher Jared Drocy had three hits and Ryan Pascarella went 4 for 4 accounting for 3 of the Red Sox runs.

Tuesday Baseball

6/17 - In the Majors Division, The Lakewood Golf Center Marlins beat the Holiday Harbor Astros 20 to 1. Kyle Radack hit a 3 run home run and completed the game with 4 RBI's. Jake Sisson was 3 for 3 with a home run and two doubles and 5 RBI's. Radack and Sisson's home runs were back to back. Blake Schrope was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI's. Derek DeVlieger had 2 singles. Nick Gustafson had a double and 2 RBI's. Mike Rensel had 2 RBI's. Jake Sisson, Kyle Radack, and Ricky Eddy combined for a 4 hitter striking out 13 and walking 3. Riley Rybicki had a single and Alec Blose went 3 for 3 with a double for the Astros. Brandon Lewis, Eric Priester, Alec Blose, and Riley Rybicki were on the mound for the Astros.

The solid pitching of Peter Trathen and Corey Bryerton helped the Phillips Kar Port Mets slip past the Jock Shop Rockies 4-2 in the first round of playoffs. Tommy Gerace had a 2 rbi double while Josh Pilling's 2 rbi single ended up being the game winning hit. Alec Peck and Nick Baglia scored the only two runs for the Rockies. The Mets will take on the Marlins in the championship game on Saturday.

Monday Baseball

6/16 - In the Minors Division,  Nick Swanson & Jared Drocy combined for 15 strikeouts, allowing only two hits with no runs scored. Top hitters for the Red Sox were Nick Swanson 4 hits including a double and three single. Jared Drocy and Ryan Pascarella each having 3 hits, double and two singles each. The Red Sox advance to the second round playing on Wednesday.  For the Lifetouch A's Patrick Mogenhan and Brady Williams each had a single.

The Carlson Car Care Orioles defeated the Mariners 8-6 in the first round of the minors playoffs. Mike Sandbloom and Brian Westerdahl each had two hits for the Orioles. For the Mariners Craig Comstock contributed two hits.

In the Rookie Division, The Gators came from behind to beat the Lions 4-3 on Monday night. The Gators were led by Mitchell Hovey and Colin Melquist with 2 hits apiece.  The Lions were led by Luke Heil with a single and a double and Jake Brinkley was named the defensive player of the game.

Saturday Baseball

6/14 - In the Minors Division,  In extra innings the Carlson Car Care Orioles defeated the Lundberg & Gustafson Red Sox 3-2. The Orioles loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth and were able to get one run across to tie the game, but were unable to score again. In the top of the seventh the Red Sox loaded the bases and the Orioles turned a double play to hold the score at 2-2. In the bottom of the seventh Jared Yaggie worked a walk and Jack Payne came through with a single that enable Yaggie to score. For the Orioles Payne, Yaggie, Jacob Lloyd and Mike Sandbloom each contributed 2 hits. For the Red Sox Jared Drocy provided 3 hits with Nolan Emerson, Nick Swanson and Ryan Pascarella each collecting 2 hits.

In the Majors Division, The Rockies topped the Astros 6-2 at Burtis Bay.  Birthday Boy Zack Snow spearheaded the Rockies on defense behind the pitching of Aaron Smith and Eric Schutt.  The Rockies offense got  key hits from Eric Schutt, Billy Johnston, Drake Johnson and Tanner Johnson.  The Astros Eric Priester was strong on the mound only giving up 1 run through 4 innings. 

The Lakewood Golf Center Marlins defeated the Phillips Karport Mets 3 to 0. Jake Sisson, Ricky Eddy, and Derek DeVlieger each had a single. Jake Sisson, Ricky Eddy, Kyle McIntyre, and Derek DeVlieger combined for a no-hitter, striking out 8 and walking 4. Tyler Bell and Pete Trathen pitched for the Mets and gave up 3 hits.

In the Rookies Division, Dalton Goldberg and Cody Dallas both made great defensive plays to hold the Gators in the 5th inning. Trent Gray, Thomas Delahoy, Andrew Lisciandro, Cameron Lunz,  all scored a run.  Cameron Minarovich had an RBI to tie the game. Dominick Shavalier hit a double to win the game. For the Gators, Justin Morris, Drew Shilling, and Micheal Cammeratta all scored a run.  Mitchell Hovey had a hit.

Thursday Baseball

6/12 - In the Majors Division, The Phillips Kar Port Mets topped off the Holiday Harbor Astros 6-4. Tommy Gerace drove in 3 runs for the Mets, while Sam Quattrone added an RBI double. For the Astros, Brandon Lewis cleared the fence at LaGrega Field for a 2-run home run in the 6th inning. Brendon Dudukovich and Mel Eggleston also added 1 hit each.

The Lakewood Golf Center Marlins defeated the Jock Shop Rockies 9 to 1. Kyle McIntyre was 2 for 2 with a three run homerun and a 2 run triple. Kyle Radack was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Derek DeVlieger had a triple and Mike Rensel had a double. Kyle Radack, Kyle McIntyre, and Ricky Eddy pitched for the Marlins. Nick Baglia had two singles for the Rockies. Nick Baglia and Alek Peck pitched for the Rockies.

In the Rookie Division, Andy's Auto Eagles turned back the Lakewood Baptist Bears 10-1 in Rookie League action Friday night. The Eagles were led by the hitting of Shane Hetrick who had a double and 3 singles,Chase Stevenson and Zack Miceli who each had 4 singles. Chris Johnson chipped in with 3 singles and Shane Hetrick was named defensive star of the game.The Bears were led by Ryan Joslyn who blasted a solo Home Run and had a single.Jeremy Lachnier had 3 singles and Ethan Hatch had 2 singles for the Bears also.

Wednesday Baseball

6/11 - In the Minors Division, The Royals beat the Orioles 14-7. Josh Eddy had a triple and 3 RBI. Jarrett Yucknitz and Garrett Johnson both had singles with 2 RBI each. Dakota Delaney chipped in with two singles. Brian Westerdahl, Brandon Kennedy, Wyatt Perry and Jared Yaggie each contributed 2 singles for the Orioles.

The BWB Yankees exploded in the top of the 6th for 7 runs en-route to a 12-4 win over the Mariners.  The Mariners hung in the game with a home run by Noah Caffaro, a triple and solid pitching by Craig Comstock and a single by Lacey Johnson.  The BWB Yankees hitting attack was led by Peter Page with a single and ground rule double that left the yard at Packard Field, and two hits each by Jackson Rybicki (with two triples), Chase McQueen, Ben Burk, Nick Cooper and Mitch Hartweg.

The Life Touch Athletics took an early lead and finished the game with an 11-4 win over the Lundberg & Gustafson Red Sox. For the Athletics, Mitchell Johnson hit a pair of singles, Pat Mogenhan hit a triple, and Pat Yuchnitz contributed with a base hit. Pat Mogenhan and Nolan Eggleston combined to pitch an outstanding game with Nolan throwing a 10 pitch inning. For the Red Sox Graham Josephson and Jared Drocy had a triple and a single, Nick Swanson had a pair of hits and Ryan Pascarella added a single and a double.

Tuesday Baseball

6/10 - In the Majors Division, The Lakewood Golf Center Marlins beat the Phillips Karport Mets 15 to 6. Kyle McIntyre was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Ricky Eddy was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 RBI's. Jake Sisson was 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Kyle Radack was 2 for 2 with a double. Josh McIntire had 2 singles and Blake Schrope had 2 RBI's. Jake Sisson, Kyle Radack, and Ricky Eddy pitched for the Marlins. For the Mets, Pete Trathen had 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Cory Bryerton had a triple. Joey Gerace, who was called up from the minors for the game, went 2 for 3 with a 2 run double. Cory Bryerton and Pete Trathen pitched for the Mets.

The Rockies rallied in the bottom of the 6th to eek out a win against the Astros as both teams turned in strong pitching performances.  Pitching for the Astros were Chauncey Smith and Alec Blose.  The Rockies pithchers were Nick Baglia and Alec Peck.

In the Rookie Division,  In a game that went down to the wire, Andy's Auto Eagles nipped the J.Edwards Insurance Panthers 7-6.Leading the way for the Eagles was Timmy Harris with 3 singles,Shane Hetrick with a single and a double and Jacob Greace and Luke Greenlee with 2 singles each.For the Panthers,Cody Dallas and Andy Lisciandro each had 2 RBIs and Trent Gray,Thomas Delahoy and Dalton Goldberg each had 1 RBI.

 

Monday Baseball

6/9 - In the Minor Division,   The Lundberg & Gustafson Red Sox topped the Carlson Muffler Orioles for second time this season by a score of 14 to 5 in a six inning game. Top hitters for the Red Sox were, Ryan Pascarella and Jared Drocy with each getting a double and single for two hits, and Nolan Emerson contributing a double. Top hitters for the Orioles were, Brian Westerdahl hitting a home run, double, and a single, Mike Sandbloom with a home run, and a double, Jack Carlson and Donald Dean each getting a double.

Taking an early lead, the Royals defeated the Yankees 12-8. Dakota Delaney started it off with a double and a single. Garrett Johnson and Clayton Hanson kept it going with singles. Nathan Priester was the winning pitcher. Josh Eddy played outstanding defense and turned a double play in the 6th inning. Chase McQueen, Nick Cooper had triples and Andrew Sisson contributed a homerun for the Yankees.

The Lifetouch A's beat the Marniner's with a final score of 9-7. Patrick Mogenhan and Joe Gerace both hit a double and a single while Brady Williams had a pair of hits to seal the win. For the Mariners, Noah Coffaro had a double and a triple. Craig Comstock went 3 for 4 with a home run.

Saturday Baseball

6/7 - In the Rookie Division,  Cameron Lunz and Dominick Shavalier hit three singles for the Panthers. Erin Radack hit three singles and Travis Ray hit two singles keeping the game tied at 6-6 for the lakewood Baptist Bears.
