- In the 13-15 Division,
JAMESTOWN BABE RUTH 13/15 LEAGUE TOURNAMENT,
Championship game ; Johnston Contracting won the
Jamestown Babe Ruth 13/15 division League Tournament
with a hard fought 4 to 3 victory over Rotary at
Dietrick Park on Sunday. Johnston was the winners
bracket winner, while Rotary came through the losers
bracket. Johnston, who was also the regular season
champion, finishes the season with a 17 - 1 record.
This is the 4th. consective time Johnston Contracting
has won the the League Tournament.
For Johnston, the key inning was in the
first, scoring 3 runs. Tanner Merchant
singled and scored on a wild throw. Adam
Neubauer singled and advanced to thrid on
the same throw, then scored on a perfect
suicide bunt by Levi Madden. Mark Smeltzer
walked, went to third on N`Kyle Taylor`s
single, and scord on a passed ball. Johnston
scored the eventual winning run in the 4th.
on a walk to Ben Bootey, who then stole
second and scored on a bad throw. For
Johnston, Neubauer had 2 hits, Bootey,
Merchant, Madden, and Taylor each had
singles. The pitching combination of
Neubauer, Madden, and Merchant was stellar
as they combined on a 3 hitter, with only 1
earned run, 4 walks, and 6 strikouts.
For Rotary, in the third, Bram Johnson
scored as he walked, advanced to third on an
error, and scored on a wild pitch. In the
6th., Matt Tobias walked, and scored on a
fielders choice, Brett Heath doubled and
scored on a passed ball. But that was all
the scoring as Neubauer was able to get out
of the sixth and then earn the save in the
seventh, getting the game winning out on a
bang bang play at second base. Matt Tobias
pitched very well in defeat as he pitched a
complete game, giving up 6 hits, only 1
earned run, with 8 strikouts, and 3 walks.
Hits for Rotary, were by Jacob Ross,
Johnson, and Heath (double).
This was a well played game with good
pitching and several good defensive plays
including double plays, close plays at the
plate and on the bases, and clutch pitching,
etc.

Friday Baseball
8/1
- In the 13-15 Division, LEAGUE TOURNAMENT:
In the Jamestown Babe Ruth 13/15 Tournament, Johnston
Contracting defeated Rotary 12 - 8 to win the winners
bracket. For Johnston, Nolan Farr had a double, while
Ben Bootey, Adam Neubauer, Conner Anderson, and Dylan
Geata all had singles. Winning pitcher was Levi Madden ,
while Neubauer picked up the save. Rotary hit 3 home
runs out of the park. Brett Heath hit 2 home runs with 5
rbi`s, while Matt Tobias hit 1 home run. Nate Ditanto
and Chris Brawdy each had singles.
In the other game played on Friday, Jock Shop defeated
Jamestown Container in a losers bracket game. Jock Shop
will now play Rotary Sat. at 7:30 at Bergman in the
losers bracket final, with the winner advancing to the
championship game on Sunday at 4:30 at Dietrick Park
against Johnston Contracting. The if-necassary game will
be played immediately after.
Tuesday Baseball
7/29 - In the 13-15 Division, LEAGUE
TOURNAMENT:
Johnston Contracting defeated Jock Shop in the Jamestown
Babe Ruth 13/15 league tournament. This was a winners
bracket game in the second round. Johnston won by a
score of 11-1.
Pitching for Johnston was superb as Adam Neubauer and Tanner Merchant combined for a
2 hitter with 16 of the 18 outs being
strikouts. They walked only 2 also. Neubauer
pitched 3 innings ( 1 hit, 7 k`s ), Merchant
pitched 3 innings ( 1 hit, 9 k`s ). Hitting
for Johnston, Ben Bootey had 3 hits,
Neubauer 2 hits (double), Merchant, Levi
Madden had 2 hits. N`Kyle Taylor, Conner
Anderson, Dylan Geata, and Mark Smeltzer all
had 1 hit.
For Jock Shop, Ricky Guzman had a double,
and Jose Alicea had a single.
Monday Baseball
7/21 - In the 13-15 Division,
Johnston Contracting used a big first inning and then
held on to defeat Jock Shop 11 - 6. Johnston improves
its record to 13-1. For Johnston, Levi Madden had 4 hits
with 2 doubles, Ben Bootey had 2 hits with a triple,
Adam Neubauer had 2 hits with a double, while adding
singles were Tanner Merchant, N`Kyle Taylor, Conner
Anderson, and Nick Anderson. The pitching trio of
Merchant, Taylor, and Madden struck out 13 batters. For
Jock Shop, Eric Tyra had 2 hits with a Home Run, Mike
Marino and Dylan Lampman each had a double, while Cody
Crandle and Ricky Guzman each singled. Guzman and Tyra
pitched well in defeat limiting Johnston to 1 run and
struck out 11 over the final 5 innings.
Monday Baseball
7/14 - In the 13-15 Division,
Powered by Adam Neubauer and Ben Bootey, first place
Johnston Contracting improved its record to 12-1,
defeating Jamestown Savings 13 - 6. Neubauer smacked 3
hits, 2 of them being home runs, while Bootey also had 3
hits with one of them a home run and a double. N`Kyle
Taylor also had 3 hits with a double, Nick Anderson had
2 hits, Dylan Geata doubled, while Nolan Farr, Tanner
Merchant, and Levi Madden all singled. Madden pitched
well giving up only one hit in 4 innings of work. For
Savings, Andrew Honey hit a home run, while Corey Bauer
had 2 hits with a double, Ben Whitney had a double.
Brian Conklin, Bram Johnson, and Todd Mcgraw each had a
single.
Greg Miller pitched Jamestown Container to a 4 to 0
victory over the Eagles. Miller allowed 3 hits with 10
strikeouts. The Eagles pitching dual of Jaron Pollino
and Jason Coccagnia also allowed only three hits, with 7
strikeouts. Mike Merenick had the only extra base hit in
the game when he doubled in the third inning.
Saturday Baseball
7/12 - In the 13-15 Division,
Alec Johnson had a 3 Run HR and 3 singles, Kenny Dirling
had a double and a single and Corey Bauer Had 4 hits for
Jamestown Savings. Eric Tyra had a 3 run HR and a double
for The Jock Shop.
Johnston Contracting ( 11-1 ) won a double header over
Jamestown Container on Sat., 12 - 2 in the first game,
and 24 -11 in the second. In the first game Ben
Bootey had 4 hits including an inside the park home run,
Adam Neubauer had 2 hits with a double, Tanner Merchant,
N`Kyle Taylor, and Dylan Geata all had 2 hits. The
combination of Bootey, Merchant, and Neubauer pitched a
3 hitter. For Container Mike Merenick, Tom D`Angelo, and
Tom Liuzzo all had 1 hit. In the second game, Levi
Madden had 4 hits with 2 doubles, Adam Neubauer had 4
hits with a double, Ben Bootey had 3 hits with 2
doubles, Tanner Merchant and N`Kyle Taylor each had 2
hits. Mark Smeltzer, Conner Anderson, Dylan Geata, and
Nick Anderson all had singles. For Container, Greg
Miller had 2 hits with 2 doubles, Ben Whitney hit a home
run, while Tom D`Angelo, Gannon Jackson, and Tom Liuzzo
all had singles.
Andrew Honey went 4 for 4 with 2 HRs. Ben
Whitney went 3 for 3 with a HR. and Alec
Johnson Had a double for Jamestown Savings.
Jake Ross and Matt Tobias each had a HR. for
Rotary.
Friday Baseball
7/11 - In the 7-8 yr old 2008 SUMMER CLASSIC,
In game 1 of the tournament, the Jamestown Yankees put
the 10 run rule on Southwestern defeating the Gladiators
12-1 after 4 complete innings. The Jamestown bats
finally came to life as Duel Card led the way with a 3
for 3 outing including a home run. Jake Brown, Seth
MacTavish and Drew Boggs each went 2 for 3 on the night
with each hitting a triple. Drew Simmons also had 3
hits. Cole Snyder and Casey Williams chipped in for
Southwestern with each getting 2 hits. Jamestown will
face Randolph tomorrow at 11:15 and Evans at 1:30.
Southwestern will play Evans at 3:45 and Randolph at
6:00pm.
In the U-12 State Tournament,
In the opening games of the 12 & under 70'
state tournament Jamestown defeated
Lancaster 4-3. Adam Westley was the star on
the going a complete game with no walks. On
defense Jamestown was solid with 13 putouts
and 3k's. Patrick Schmelzinger had a
key single in the 2nd inning belting in 2
rbi's to led Jamestown on offence. for
Lancaster Teddy Wilson had 2 hits.
Jamestown will face off again sat at noon
against the same team for the best of 2 out
of 3. the winner will advance to the
regionals in NJ.
In the U-10 State Tournament,
Jamestown U-10 All-Stars is still going strong!! The
10-Year Old All-Star Team stays undefeated as they
topped Ithaca 1-0 in the State Tournament in Evans
Friday afternoon. Kyle Liuzzo, Derek Foe and Jacob
Quattrone all had singles. Chad Nelson and Derek Foe
both pitched a fabulous game to keep Ithaca from
scoring.
